A Missing Link Will Be Filled in London Theatre Community

July 3, 2012

(London, Ontario) London has an incredibly rich theatre community for a city its size. Over 140 companies are listed on www.theatreinlondon.ca. The artists within this community range from people who do this purely for the love of it to those who make it their career. Even with many opportunities to participate in theatre in London, making this step from amateur to professional is a huge challenge. There is a missing link in this process...and Rick Kish is looking to change that with London’s newest professional theatre, A Missing Link Theatre Company.

Hot off a highly successful Fringe Festival run of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” (5 out of 5 stars in the London Free Press, Joe Belanger), Rick Kish has been solidly entrenched in this strong community since the early 90’s. He has worked as a producer, director, actor, singer, voice coach, acting coach and workshop leader. He is a past artistic director at The Port Stanley Festival Theatre and at The Bluewater Summer Playhouse and is now planning a fall launch of A Missing Link Theatre Company (AMLTC). “We will be taking the successful Summer Theatre Formula of an intimate experience, a good story with solid performances to create a satisfying theatre experience year ‘round,” says Kish.

One of the key objectives for this theatre company is to mentor local talent, both on stage and behind the scenes, giving them an opportunity to work on a professional level with seasoned professionals. “AMLTC will always strive to use some local talent on the stage and behind the scenes,” says Kish. “This is about building opportunity for our artists.”

AMLTC’s inaugural season will start with a Revival of “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” at the McManus Studio Theatre at The Grand Theatre. The second production will be the World Premiere of “The Great Kooshog Lake Hollis McCauley Fishing Derby”, a new Norm Foster play that is being written specifically for this new company and is being presented at the London Convention Centre Theatre. A great kick-off season for London’s newest professionally engaging theatre company.
